Our commitment

The NHS Long Term Plan, published in January 2019,  also made a huge commitment to improving cancer care, diagnosis and survival rates by 2028.

Cancer alliances were set up across England to drive the change needed to achieve these aims.

  • Screening and early diagnosis: Information about national screening programmes and the alliance's work to increase the earlier diagnosis of cancer. 
  • Personalised care and support: Find out how the alliance is working to give patients more choice and control over their care.
  • Patients and the public: Details about how the alliance works with patients to understand what matters to them and information about how you can get involved by joining the alliance's Patient Working Together Group.
  • Translated patient information: Patient information about cancer in a range of languages, in Easy Read for people with learning disabilities and resources for British Sign Language users.
  • Health professionals: Information about workforce and education with pages dedicated to specific roles in cancer care, including videos where you can hear from some of our cancer clinical nurse specialists (CNS) about their roles.
  • Opportunities to learn: Professionals working in primary care can also use the website to find out about opportunities to learn more about cancer pathways and finding ways to improve them within their practice. There's also a primary care toolkits and information page that's under development.
